Moscow, Gorky st.

Mikhail Roginsky pop/off/art 2.0 at Bolshoi Palashevsky lane, building 9.

Exhibition “Moscow, Gorky st." will be dedicated to a group of works in which Roginsky addresses the appearance of Moscow and its inhabitants. These are works from the artist’s late period, the late 1990s – early 2000s. Some of the paintings were created during the author’s long stay in Moscow, as well as in Paris. Plunging into memories of life in his beloved city, he summarizes his experience and reproduces the mood, conveying the character of the capital. Roginsky is interested in everyday subjects: scenes on Moscow streets, in the subway and in courtyards, queues, typical characters and their conversations. In the central works of the exhibition: “Stove” (1993), “Highway of Enthusiasts” No. 1 and No. 2 (1996), “Gorky Street” (1996), the artist expresses the external features of Soviet and post-Soviet society, its everyday attributes and behavioral habits, reflecting the cultural code . Roginsky's Soviet Moscow became the same fact of art as the Paris of the Impressionists or Edward Hopper's New York.

Выставка ставит вопрос о роли современного художника в формировании общественного городского пространства выразительными средствами скульптуры, а так же позволит критически осветить процесс нового монументального заказа, свидетелями которого мы становимся.
