Shamil Shaaev (b. 1988, Ivanovo Region) is a contemporary artist. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Bashkir State University (2005–2010, Ufa) and completed his postgraduate studies at the same faculty (2010–2014). He graduated from the "Free Workshops" program at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2019–2020). In 2023, he enrolled at the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Mulhouse (Strasbourg).

In 2020, he was shortlisted for the "Turbulence" competition, organized by the Cultural Creative Agency and the State of Qatar as part of the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair. In 2023, Shamil Shaaev's solo exhibition "The Ineluctable Modality of the Visible" was held at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA). He has participated in numerous major group exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Since 2022, he has been a resident of the pop/off/art lab.

He lives and works in Strasbourg, France.
