Vika Begalskaya and Alexander Vilkin are a duo of Moscow artists who have been working together since 2014. Before they started working together, each of the artists was famous and had a recognizable style. In recent years, Begalskaya and Vilkin have become some of the most prominent authors working in the field of new painting and object. They experiment with visual language and painting techniques. Their subject matter is the modern image of man and his relationship with nature and art. They live in Moscow.
Vika Begalskaya was born in 1975 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. Since 2000, the artist has lived and worked in Moscow; since 2007, she has been collaborating with pop/off/art galleries. In 2012, Begalskaya founded the art platform "Feminist Kitchen", which unites art and activism practices, socio-cultural research and theory, together with Oksana Sarkisyan and Vlad Chizhenkov. In 2014, the artist founded the creative union of sex workers and artists "Teresa" together with Alexander Vilkin and Diana Portland in St. Petersburg.
Alexander Vilkin was born in 1982 in Chelyabinsk. The artist graduated from the Chelyabinsk Art School, the North-West Institute of Printing and Book Graphics in St. Petersburg and the Baza School of Contemporary Art in Moscow. In 2006, Vilkin, together with Igor Mezheritsky and Grigory Yushchenko, founded the art group "Protesis".
