The pop/off/art gallery presents the group exhibition Standby Mode, which proposes to consider the process indicated in the title as an independent form of necessary experience. The focus is not on the pursuit of immediate results, but on the value of the transitional state itself and the new contexts that emerge within it. This idea serves as a unifying thread for the works of ten residents of the pop/off/art gallery from different generations.

The exhibition's concept grew out of the everyday experience of waiting—situations that accompany a person at various levels, whether it's a file downloading, waiting for a reply to a message, or the start of an event. However, this period of time can also define larger‑scale processes: the transformation of a city through endless renovations, or shifts in social and cultural conditions due to external circumstances. Such changes rarely have a clear starting point or a predetermined completion date. The transitional state manifests itself gradually—through individual signs that evoke a sense of the inevitability of a future that cannot yet be defined or controlled.

The works presented in the exhibition address various manifestations of this state and go beyond the notion of it as a forced pause. Thus, in the photographic narratives of Polina Rukavichkina, a universal image of the city is formed, one that is continually undergoing renewal through human activity. In contrast, the removed layers of ground on Vladimir Potapov's canvases reveal the history of the spaces depicted, which have irrevocably lost their outward appearance and functional purpose. Vladimir Kupriyanov's photo‑objects trace the boundary between disappearance and preservation, turning photographic imagery into testimony of an unfinished transition. Ivan Plyushch's painting addresses the cyclical nature of human actions, revealing their absurdity and pointlessness in the context of achieving results. Olga and Oleg Tatarintsev, in their objects and sculpture, capture a state of readiness for movement and adaptation to change, while the found materials in Andrey Krasulin's works remind us of things that will inevitably remain in the past. Andrey Kuzkin's sculpture and Ivan Novikov's graphic series shift the conversation to the realm of inner experience, revealing an anxious feeling of uncertainty. Finally, Asya Zaslavskaya's work documents the transition to the finale, which simultaneously becomes the starting point for a new stage of waiting for the last moment.

The project will bring together more than 25 works in a variety of media: painting, graphics, photography, sculpture, and objects. Each work will reveal in its own way the productive potential of waiting, helping the viewer to change their attitude toward uncertainty.
