Pop/off/art participates in Cosmoscow, international art fair held in Gostiny Dvor (Moscow) on 9, 10 and 11 September. The gallery booth (B 2) showcases works by Irina Nakhova and Vladimir Shinkarev.
Cosmoscow, the only international contemporary art fair in Russia and the CIS will take place from 9-11 September 2016 at Gostiny Dvor, Moscow. Maintaining its reputation as the leading platform for building country’s contemporary art market, the fair brings together international and Russian artists, galleries and collectors on an annual basis. By established tradition, fair’s Expert Committee carefully selects leading and emerging international and Russian galleries, in order to introduce Cosmoscow guests to the finest examples of contemporary art. Besides its main programming, the forthcoming edition will also feature an extensive parallel programme including numerous non-commercial exhibition projects. In 2016 Cosmoscow will continue with the specially curated exhibition of private loans Collector’s Eye and the Off white charity auction in benefit of the Naked Heart Foundation, supported by Christie’s, as well as Cosmoscow Talks and Cosmoscow Kids projects. Cosmoscow close circle of likeminded individuals include major international art world figures.
Irina Nakhova has gained recognition in 1970s as a bright member of Moscow conceptualist movement and also a person behind the first total installations made in Russia. The artist is currently working with mediums of painting and installation of varying scale. One of her latest projects “The Green Pavilion” was shown at the Russian national pavilion during the 56th Venice Biennale. In 2013 she received Kandinsky Prize under the category “Project of the Year”. Irina Nakhova’s solo shows and group exhibitions involving her works are held at important institutions and galleries worldwide. The artist lives and works in Moscow and New Jersey (USA).
Vladimir Shinkarev was born in 1954 in Leningrad. From 1974 to 1977 he took courses at Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design and Ilya Repin Leningrad Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1975 he started taking part in unofficial apartment exhibitions. In 1985 he founded The Mitki art group, which he left in 2008. He is also widely known as a writer and an author of a number of books, including the cult «Maxim and Fyodor» (1978-80). In 2008 he was awarded with Joseph Brodsky prize. His works are included in collections of State Tretyakov Gallery, Hermitage Museum, State Russian Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum (London, UK). The artist lives and works in Saint-Petersburg.
