The pop/off/artGallery is the only gallery representing Russia at the international contemporary art fair Art Brussels in 2018. The Belgian fair, one of the oldest in Europe, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in April 2018. Over the half century of its existence Art Brussels, in which 146 galleries from 33 countries participate today, has become one of the most established art fairs in Europe. This is the first time that the pop/off/art Gallery will participate in the Art Brussels fair. 

The New York Times describes the Belgian fair as one that "stands out in the overcrowded world art scene". Art Brussels places its stakes on both reputed and young artists from all over the world, introducing many new names to visitors and collectors mainly from Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Scandinavia, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, as well as from more distant Australia, Turkey and the USA. This sole Russian gallery, selected by the International Gallery Committee, will be presented at the fair in the section PRIME. This section focusses on internationally renowned artists.

The pop/off/art Gallery stand will feature leading Russian artists of two generations, who work with the conceptual problematics of painting: Erik Bulatov – one of today’s true classics, Olga Chernysheva – an internationally recognised master, and Vitaly Pushnitsky – an artist who works at the juncture of different media. Their works are in harmony with the minimalistic objects (in which colour plays a key role) of Olga and Oleg Tatarintsev,artists who have mastered technique to an exceptional level. The legacy of the Avant-garde, the reflection upon the place and role of the artist are the themes that unite the works of all the artists represented by the Gallery. 

The pop/off/art Gallery was founded by the art critic and curator Sergey Popov in 2004 and for more than a decade now it has occupied a leading position on the art scene in the sphere of Russian and international contemporary art. Alongside its commercial activities, a priority of the Gallery is to implement its active exhibition policy. The Gallery regularly organises exhibitions for its artists in the major Russian museums: the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and others. 

The artists represented:

Erik Bulatov (born 1933) – is one of the most famous contemporary Russian artists and founders of Sots Art. Bulatov’s recognisable creative method is the juxtaposition of poster text, taken from the context of Soviet reality, with a figurative component (most often landscape, borrowed from the popular Press). As a result, the artist is able, in an extremely accessible way, to illustrate the absurdity of reality oversaturated with the symbolism of Soviet propaganda. Apart from the pieces on the Sots Art theme, Bulatov, starting from his early works, developed a theory of interaction between the picture and space – a powerful, distinctive phase of his art, which has not yet been appreciated in the context of the history of Art. Bulatov's works constantly appear at international contemporary art auctions: at the "Phillips" auction the piece "Soviet Space" fetched about $1.6 million, another two canvases on Soviet themes, including "Revolution – Perestroika", were sold for a million dollars each, which has made Bulatov one of the most expensive contemporary Russian artists. 

Olga Chernysheva (born 1962) – is one of the few Russian contemporary artists who has gained international recognition. She works in a variety of different media – from oil painting to photography and video art, but namely the latter have made her one of the most prominent players on the art scene. In the subject matter of her works, Chernysheva repeatedly returns to scenes from everyday life and to common human issues. In 1986 Olga Chernysheva graduated from the Art Faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) and in 1995 from the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts) in Amsterdam. Chernysheva's works are widely exhibited in Russia and around the world and are included in the collections of such museums and foundations as the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the Stella Art Foundation (Moscow), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Moscow), the Museum of Modern Art MoMA (New York), the Tate Modern (London), the Museum of Modern Art (Warsaw), the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (Berlin). 

Vitaly Pushnitsky (born 1967) – is a St. Petersburg artist, working at the juncture of different media, who from year to year discovers an ever-widening range of imagery for himself. He graduated from the Faculty of Graphics of the Repin Institute of Arts. Vitaly is constantly searching for new expressive methods in painting, sculpture, installation and video. Pushnitsky has received many international grants for his art work and has created public projects for different countries (Russia, India, Denmark). In 2011, the publishing company "Phaidon Press" included him in its international list of key contemporary artists who define new perspectives in painting. In 2015 Pushnitsky took part in the 56thVenice Biennale (the Mauritius Pavilion). His works are in museum collections and are also regularly exhibited in his solo exhibitions in Asia, the USA, the countries of continental Europe, and in Russia. 

Olga (born 1967) and Oleg (born 1966) Tatarintsev– are of the few contemporary artists who have chosen as the main medium for their artworks – ceramics, a material that is difficult to handle, but very "artistic" in terms of its plasticity, and whose unique richness becomes apparent only when observed closely. The solo exhibitions of O. and O. Tatarintsev, participants of the 3rd, 4thand 5th Moscow Biennales of Contemporary Art, have been held in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2011) and the Rappaz Museum in Basel (2013). The Tatarintsevs’ works are in prestigious private and museum collections around the world, including the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Aslan Chekhoev Novy Museum (St. Petersburg).
