The pop/off/art gallery continues its annual participation in the largest Russian contemporary art fair Cosmoscow. From 10 to 13 September, the pop/off/art booth in Gostiny Dvor will feature works by Vladimir Potapov, Vitaly Pushnitsky and Andrey Krasulin.
Andrei Krasulin was born in 1934 in Moscow, spent his childhood in the city of Pushkino (Moscow Region). From 1953 to 1960 he studied at the department of monumental and decorative sculpture of the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (now the Stroganov Moscow State Art Academy). In the Soviet and post-Soviet years, Krasulin worked a lot in collaboration with architects close to him in terms of views, including on state orders: mainly bas-reliefs in theater lobbies and public sculpture, often memorial, with abstract forms that were not typical for that time. Andrey Krasulin began to take an active part in exhibitions after the collapse of the Soviet Union: personal exhibitions with his participation are regularly held in museums and galleries in Russia and Europe (1995, State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg; 2005 - Lifestyle, State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow; 2008 – “Bronze about Mandelstam”, Shchusev Museum of Architecture, Moscow) supported by the pop/off/art gallery. The artist lives and works in Moscow.
Vitaly Pushnitsky (b. 1967) was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In 1994 he graduated from the State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (former Academy of Arts), while studying at the private studio of the artist Ivan Gurin. Since 1994 - Member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists. Pushnitsky repeatedly received grants for creative work (USA) and created public projects for different countries (Russia, India, Denmark, Norway, etc.). He took part in the 56th Venice Biennale (2015), a parallel program of the European Biennale of Contemporary Art MANIFESTA 10 (2014, St. Petersburg), I and II Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2005, 2007), the Baltic Biennale (2006), in a number of high-profile international exhibitions. Author of solo exhibitions at the State Russian Museum (2002), the State Hermitage (2006), the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2012) and the New Museum (2012, 2017, St. Petersburg). In 2011 Phaidon included him in the international list of key contemporary authors who define new perspectives in painting. The artist lives in St. Petersburg.
Vladimir Potapov (b. 1980) is one of the leading Russian artists of the middle generation, curator, theorist and promoter of contemporary art. He is known for his conceptual work with painting, which resulted in a series of series that problematized the surface, space, and material of the painting today. Vladimir Vladimirovich Potapov was born in 1980 in Volgograd. He received his art education at the Institute of Arts. P. A. Serebryakova (Volgograd) in 2000-2001. In the future, a graduate of the Institute of Contemporary Art and "Free Workshops" (Moscow). Potapov was nominated for a number of major domestic and international awards in contemporary art. Participant and curator of dozens of group exhibitions. The personal exhibition "From Memory" was shown at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2015), the personal exhibition "Only History Ahead" was held at the Kunsthalle in Rostock, Germany (2018). Lives and works in Moscow.
